The Stolen Week
Completing the new book
It has felt a little like cheating, but I managed to keep myself largely offline last week, delaying the start of 2026, providing space to work on the final amends and illustrations for the new book.
I completed four new illustrations, and some tweaks to two key sections: ‘Philosophy of the Farm’ required a new ending, and ‘Living the Planetary Philosophy’ just needed gentle review. These details, as with so much of the book, have been guided under the watchful eye of Sae, who wears two hats, of co-author and editor in residence, and who had a strong eye for the meta-narrative that can elude me.
I’m in Germany this week, which will provide us an opportunity to meet up and work on our launch plans: scheduling the audiobook recording, working out the distribution arrangements, marketing, key events, and I hope some specular launch events. I hope to be able to share approximate publications dates before too long.
I had to cheat for this, because really I had wanted the book finished before the end of last year, but frankly exhaustion, and a busy diary, was giving me the excuse to be inefficient, hence I admitted defeat and just snuck off to do it in January.
I am so excited to share this new work: ‘Unreconciled: Being Human in the 21st Century’ has certainly pushed my thinking in new ways, and will be my first book that could legitimately be considered a philosophy text (a fact I share despite the warning that nobody reads philosophy today). Fortunately, it’s a very down to earth kind of philosophy: an exploration of how we think, act, and do things in a rapidly evolving technological and social context.
